Every day, the NIDCAP Federation International, its NIDCAP Training Centers, and their NIDCAP Trainers and NIDCAP Trained Professionals and Supporters strive to improve the experience of newborns and families in hospitals all over the world. World NIDCAP Day (WND) is an opportunity to recognize these efforts and build awareness of the importance of providing NIDCAP care for hospitalized infants and their families. We will be celebrating the entire month of March.
See our World NIDCAP Day page for more information about the day, the WND toolkit, and ideas for how you and your nursery or community can join in spreading awareness of NIDCAP Care. Check the page regularly for updates on the WND activities that will happen during March.
NICU Parent Network’s Executive Director, Keira Sorrells and NFI’s gretchen Lawhon, PhD, RN, FAAN, discuss NIDCAP and what it means for newborns and families in hospitals all around the world.

Celebrated internationally on November 17th, World Prematurity Day (WPD) acknowledges the journeys of preterm infants and their families as well as raises awareness of the challenges faced by children born preterm and their families. This is ever so important as the incidence of preterm birth, worldwide, is increasing rapidly. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), every year an estimated 15 million infants worldwide are born preterm (over 3 weeks early).
World Prematurity Day 2022The NFI introduces its Family Resource Series – a series of videos produced, with support from Dräger, to support parents who have a premature or medically fragile baby in the hospital. NIDCAP trainers and NICU graduate parents answer questions that are frequently asked by families that have babies in an intensive care setting.
