This one-day conference will be held on the last day of the 34th Annual NIDCAP Trainers Meeting and is open to anyone interested in learning about NIDCAP Care. NIDCAP Trainers, Professionals and Supporters of NIDCAP Care from around the world will convene to discuss issues around optimizing preterm and term infant care through the NIDCAP approach.

Our focus this year will be on supporting and sustaining systems change in newborn and infant intensive care units. Physicians, scientists, nurses, and family organization leaders from around the world have been invited to speak. Continuing education credits will be available for RNs.

The conference will be a hybrid format.  We look forward to seeing you whether in person or virtually!

One Day Conference

5th World NIDCAP Day,
20 March 2023

Every day, the NIDCAP Federation International, its NIDCAP Training Centers, and their NIDCAP Trainers and NIDCAP Trained Professionals and Supporters strive to improve the experience of newborns and families in hospitals all over the world. World NIDCAP Day (WND) is an opportunity to recognize these efforts and build awareness of the importance of providing NIDCAP care for hospitalized infants and their families. We will be celebrating the entire month of March.

See our World NIDCAP Day page for more information about the day, the WND toolkit, and ideas for how you and your nursery or community can join in spreading awareness of NIDCAP Care. Check the page regularly for updates on the WND activities that will happen during March.

NICU Parent Network’s Executive Director, Keira Sorrells and NFI’s gretchen Lawhon, PhD, RN, FAAN, discuss NIDCAP and what it means for newborns and families in hospitals all around the world.

World Prematurity Day 2022

The global theme this year:
A parent’s embrace: a powerful therapy.
Enable skin-to-skin contact from the moment of birth.

Celebrated internationally on November 17th, World Prematurity Day (WPD) acknowledges the journeys of preterm infants and their families as well as raises awareness of the challenges faced by children born preterm and their families. This is ever so important as the incidence of preterm birth, worldwide, is increasing rapidly. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), every year an estimated 15 million infants worldwide are born preterm (over 3 weeks early).

Twenty years ago, the NIDCAP Federation International (NFI) was founded as a membership and educational certifying non-profit organization (501c3)
